Increasing understanding of the data used in the planning process in particular amongst young people

This toolkit written in 2016/17 sets out the experience of East Devon in data sharing and their success in engaging young people in neighbourhood planning and data sharing in particular through the use of digital tools.

It shares the council's experiences and learning on:

  • How to improve understanding of the data held and ways to  make it more available;
  • How an authority can help communities interpret and understand data in order to improve the efficiency of the neighbourhood plan-making process
  • The most cost effective engagement methods and survey techniques; and
  • The approaches that ensured a representative sample of the population connected with the data used in the planning process - and in particular how they were successful in engaging young people.
