This page is dedicated to digital innovation.
Bright and shiny digital tools are everywhere - so how can councils use them effectively to work smarter, not harder? Plan making, development management, urban design and assessing sites are key areas where maximising digital tools can create efficiencies.
With the focus on data standards and digitisation contained in the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill, we know this will be a hot topic now and in the future. PAS have recently been talking to some of the councils taking part in the various digital pilots, pathfinders, way finders or simply doing digital innovation within their councils. We thought it might be fun to see if we can create a digital crew of council officers so we can start to share experiences and knowledge along the journey to a digitised future. If that sounds like something you would be interested in then drop us an email [email protected]
PAS has recently been working with officers from the London Borough of Hounslow and Birmingham City Council about how they have used digital tools to:
- change working practise and enable better engagement with internal departments;
- maximise opportunities for proactive site identification including council land holdings;
- visualise the assessment of sites including density, capacity and viability; and
- create character areas and design codes.
