Croydon Council: Winning hearts and minds on health in all policies

  • The LGA has run a series of workshops for both members and officers at Croydon Council to build a health in all polices approach

Cheshire and Merseyside: Our suicide prevention work has been energised

  • The Cheshire and Merseyside Public Health Collaborative has been working on suicide prevention for more than a decade
  • The LGA has provided support over two phases, helping the collaborative to re-shape its approach to the issue
  • Lead Director of Public Health says help has given the collaborative ‘brain space’ to reflect and adapt

Isle of Wight: Intense three months of support has put us in strong position

  • LGA experts worked with the Isle of Wight Health and Wellbeing Board over a three-month period
  • One-to-one interviews and workshops were held covering how the board worked, neighbourhood health and working with communities
  • Director of public health reports the support helped ‘lift the gaze’ of the board as it entered a crucial new phase

Kent: Our board needed re-imagining – the LGA helped us do this

  • Director of Public Health requested LGA to support efforts to re-develop the health and wellbeing board after it had ‘drifted to the margins’
  • A three-week intensive round of one-to-one interviews with board members and a workshop helped to pave the way for an overhaul
  • Plans now being put in place to take board meetings out into community settings, refresh the membership and set up key priority workstreams
