HICM: Intermediate Care: West Sussex

Colleagues in West Sussex were experiencing high demand for long-term adult social care services, needs becoming more complex, and continued financial pressures. Action was taken to strengthen reablement as a core intervention, promoting independence and managing long term care demand. The Community Reablement Service was recommissioned, with approximately £0.72m additional investment.

Case Study

Regional polling results

The LGA has been tracking the reputation of local government for 10 years. Every four months, 1,000 people tell us what they think about their local area and its council.

Writing a councillor development strategy

Having a councillor development strategy in place is vital for ensuring that councillors are equipped to understand and fulfil their roles and responsibilities to the best of their ability.

Communicating about councillor roles

It is important for councils to be open and transparent so that councillors, officers, and residents understand councillors’ roles and responsibilities.

Planning your councillor development programme

A councillor development programme provides support and resources to your councillors, ensuring that they can access learning and development that enables them to be effective and confident as a councillor.
