Councils play a key role in tackling water safety, working with the Fire and Rescue Service, police and RNLI to assess and respond to risks locally. They also play a key role in educating residents about the risks posed by water.  

This framework is not intended as guidance prescribing exactly what must be done. Its intention is to empower practitioners across all sectors, supporting consistent, confident decision-making about safeguarding concerns, which are rooted in the legal framework and statutory guidance.

The scope of this project was to understand changes in design quality beyond the grant of either full or outline planning permission and to strengthen the role of local planning authorities in securing higher quality in the final build out of development schemes.

This project was led and managed by the London Housing Directors’ Group in collaboration with the North London Housing Partnership. It was supported by London Councils and commissioned by LB Islington as the North London Housing Partnership’s host borough.

We commissioned consultants to consider approaches to improve the private rented sector, undertake research and best practice from other councils and from this propose a number of options to help the team address poor management and disrepair in the private rented sector.

The Government published the next strategy to improve the lives of autistic people on 21 July 2021.

The toolkit, jointly developed by STOP THE TRAFFIK and Shiva Foundation, seeks to provide practical guidance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on how they can prevent modern slavery in their business operations. The toolkit has practical steps on how your SME suppliers can assess their company’s risks; mitigate the risks affecting their employees and their agency staff as well as how the report and remedy any incidents.
