JNC coroners management side circular to local authorities - pay and next steps

In our last circular issued on 12 June we gave a further update on the coroner’s pay bargaining situation. Since then, the Ministry of Justice has shared with us correspondence between the CSEW and the Lord Chancellor, David Lammy MP. With their permission we share that correspondence with you as an appendix to this circular.

Co-production and personalisation

Approaches that make sure people have choice and control over the way their care and support is planned and delivered and that everyone is working together as equals.

Housing

Policy, resources and tools that are about the development and availability of high quality housing options for people

Growing Places: a thriving community

Councils are at the heart of strong and thriving communities. To ensure every resident lives in a safe environment in which they can prosper, Government must support the development of a 21st century fire service, give local areas the powers to make decisions about transport at a local level and drive fast and reliable digital connectivity across the country.

Growing Places: healthy and independent lives

Good local services are essential for mental and physical health and wellbeing. To support councils in delivering these, the Government must reverse the £20 million cut to public health grant, invest in prevention and plug the £2.3 billion funding gap for adult social care.

Growing Places: a good quality, affordable home

Councils are best placed to help build the right houses in the right locations to help solve the housing crisis. To support them, Government must enable councils to invest in housing by lifting the Housing Revenue Account borrowing cap, for example.

Growing Places: the best start for children

To properly support children and young people to achieve their full potential, Government must urgently meet the £2 billion gap in children’s social care and give back to councils the power and funding to open new schools.
