LGA responds to £46m Changing Futures scheme

“Councils have played a crucial role during the pandemic using local knowledge and expertise to fight the virus and protect people who are vulnerable in our communities."

Responding to the announcement of a £46 million Changing Futures scheme to support people who are vulnerable, Cllr David Renard, Local Government Association housing spokesperson, said:

“Councils have played a crucial role during the pandemic using local knowledge and expertise to fight the virus and protect people who are vulnerable in our communities.

“This money will continue to support efforts to help those facing crises such as homelessness, mental health issues or domestic abuse.

“However as we emerge from the pandemic, it is absolutely critical to the national recovery that there is investment in essential local services such as public health, homeless prevention and local welfare support to ensure those experiencing disadvantage are protected and supported, and not left behind.”
