LGA thanks Lord Jeremy Beecham

"His dedication to local communities across the country has been tireless and his many years in the House of Lords has allowed him to continue doing what he does best – standing up for people and trying to make things better for us all."

Responding to the announcement that Lord Jeremy Beecham will be retiring as a Councillor in May, LGA Chairman, Cllr James Jamieson, said:

“Lord Beecham’s career in local government has spanned many years both as Leader of Newcastle City Council, as the LGA’s first ever Chair, and more recently as one of our Vice Presidents.

“His dedication to local communities across the country has been tireless and his many years in the House of Lords has allowed him to continue doing what he does best – standing up for people and trying to make things better for us all.

“Everyone in local government holds him in the highest regards and we thank him for his dedication."
