Resetting the relationship between local and national government. Read our Local Government White Paper
From August 2014, the LGA is circulating quarterly updates on local adoption performance to all regional lead member networks.
These data packs contain a range of performance information, broken down to local authority level, and should help members to support and challenge local performance. Headline figures from the latest release show that a record 3,980 children were adopted during 2012/13, and the data indicates further increases in the number of adoptions, adopters being recruited, and improvements in timeliness.
The latest data pack is available on the .gov.uk website.
The Government has also announced an additional £20 million of pupil premium money to support children adopted from care, which will be available to schools for the current financial year.
