London Borough of Hillingdon is using assistive technology and telecare to enable residents to remain in their homes for as long as possible and enjoy a better quality of life.
The telecare and reablement service achieved the financial savings target of £4,957,000 by March 2014. This is helping the council to manage the growing demand on adult social care services as it faces a projected increase in the number of residents aged over 80 by 13%. The council has created a fundamental shift in service provision away from institutionalised care, towards home-based support, risk prevention and early intervention.
