The two organisations agreed to commission the new service through a Section 75 agreement, following a sexual health needs assessment which sought the input of service users, practitioners, and health and local authority commissioners and providers. The local authority took the lead in the procurement process through a Competitive Dialogue based on Lean principles. The new arrangement has helped to integrate, join up and improve access to sexual health services through the provision of contraception and sexual health services, including HIV care and treatment from a ‘one-stop-shop' at different sites.
