Waltham Forest Council – public affairs campaign on private rented property licensing

Waltham Forest Council launched a Private Rented Property Licensing Scheme in April 2015, in response to a significant number of landlords being found to provide sub-standard accommodation for tenants, and a high local reliance upon the private sector for housing, with 27 per cent of Waltham Forest households renting privately. The scheme aimed to register all private sector landlords throughout the borough.

The council coordinated a campaign to promote their work on the Private Rented Sector. This included a series of successful local and national activities including focus groups, social media, and a housing report launch. They also worked with the Mayor of London and called for changes to the Housing and Planning Bill.
