LIFE+ Environment Programme

LIFE+ supports environmental and nature conservation projects, including green regeneration. The programme has three strands: Nature and Biodiversity Projects; Environment Policy and Governance; Information and Communication.

ELENA funds technical assistance to support the preparation and implementation of large-scale sustainable energy investment programmes (those worth over €50 million). It will support programmes in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy and clean transport. Details are available on the ELENA webpage

Funding is currently available. There are no calls for proposals, with funding on a first-come, first-served basis. 

 
The European Energy Efficiency Fund (EEE-F) invests in energy saving, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, particularly in urban settings, achieving at least 20% energy saving or GHG/CO2 emission reduction.
 
The fund will offer a wide range of financial products such as senior and junior loans, guarantees or equity participation to local, regional and (where justified) national public authorities to promote sustainable energy investments. At its launch (1 July 2011) the fund held Euro 265 million. The ongoing size of the fund will depend on additional investors (public but also private) and the eventual investment portfolio.

The Eco-Innovation Programme provides funding for innovative products that mitigate environmental impacts or promote a more efficient use of resources. The fund supports initial development or commercialisation to help get viable products on to the market. Priority areas include material recycling, buildings, the food and drink sector as well as green business.
