On 10 July 2014 Graeme Kane was announced winner of the Local Government Challenge 2014.
Local Government Challenge 2014 final
Following the fifth and final challenge at Breckland Council, the four finalists were chosen:
- Charlotte Breen, London Borough of Sutton
- Jade Taylor, Central Bedfordshire Council
- Graeme Kane, Mole Valley District Council
- Si-Chun Lam, Coventry City Council
The four 2014 finalists have promoted their Scholarship proposals from their stands at Annual Conference. The winner has now been announced as Graeme Kane on Thursday 10 July.
Local Government Challenge 5: Breckland
On May 12, team Engage and team LG generation travelled to Breckland for the 5th and final Local Government Challenge of 2014. Each team were required to play the role of a district council senior management team and to prepare for a public presentation in which they would be presenting details of a town centre regeneration project to the town's residents. After the result, the judging panel would reveal the four best performing contestants from 2014, who would go through to the final (to be held at LGA annual Conference) with the chance to compete for the Bruce Lockhart Scholarship.'
Local Government Challenge 4: Worcester City Council
In April our 10 contestants headed to the historic City of Worcester for their fourth and penultimate challenge. Their task - to come up with proposals to increase the number of people visiting - and shopping in - the city. Watch the video to find out how they got on.
Local Government Challenge 3: Leeds City Council
The contestants travelled to Leeds in Spring for a sporting challenge linked to Yorkshire hosting the Grand Départ of the 2014 Tour de France. The teams were asked to develop 10 detailed ideas for how the council can get more women and girls cycling across the city.
LG Challenge 2: Gedling Borough Council – Country Park
The Local Government Challenge seeks out the best and brightest local government officers with the innovation and drive to reach the top. Less than a month since they first met, our 10 contestants were on the road again, this time to Gedling Borough Council in Nottinghamshire, for a challenge with an outdoor flavour.
LG Challenge 1: Barking & Dagenham and Thurrock Council
The first Challenge of 2014 kicked off in Barking & Dagenham and Thurrock in January. Building on the two councils successful shared services, the 10 contestants were asked to consider what next for the two councils on their shared services journey.
