Influenza immunisation remains the most effective method to help protect against the infection.
Seasonal flu vaccination
Last year, NHS England (NHSE) provided additional funding to support the delivery of flu immunisation for social care workers that offer direct patient/client care. Correspondence from NHSE confirms that arrangements have been put in place for the 2018/19 influenza vaccination scheme for eligible health and social care staff to again be offered by GP practices and community pharmacies. This now also includes staff in the voluntary managed hospice sector. As we approach winter, providers in the domiciliary care and care home sector are being encouraged to communicate the benefits of the flu vaccine to your care home staff, residents and those receiving homecare.
