We all have a story to tell. Always unique, sometimes funny, often speckled with tales of hope, fear, needs and wants. These stories change over time and continue to evolve based on our lived experience, current mood and the impact of those around us. A “Who Am I” story encompasses our personal history, experiences, values, beliefs, and aspirations.

How you might use the learning journal

If you do decide to engage with this journal, you may choose to keep it just for you. You might choose to protect a suitable hour in your diary to reflect on the question prompts so you can plan for the next steps in your learning and development.

Once you’ve thought about your learning plan, you might choose to share your insights with your manager so you can work together to identify development opportunities. You may even choose to share your insights with middle leader peers in your council so you can support each other with opportunities for development and professional growth.

Identity is an individual set of characteristics, layered and shaped by things such as our cultural background, family and relationship dynamics, education, and personal and professional experiences.
