In November 2017, local government came together on social media for the biggest ever online celebration of the people who keep our communities running.
The sixth annual #OurDay took place on 21 November 2017 and we are thrilled to see that it was the biggest one yet.
The 24 hour social media marathon gives everyone who works or volunteers in local public services the chance to share their stories of how they improve the quality of life of residents.
This year more people, local authorities and other organisations than ever took part. Close to 14,000 contributors posted 45,083 tweets, reaching more than 31 million people.
As a result, #OurDay trended number 1 in the UK for the largest part of the day, as well as first worldwide in the English language.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and shared their work – together we highlighted a day in the life of local government, the many services we provide, and the difference it makes for our communities.
