Welcome to our place's offer landing page. We help to get local plans up-to-date and to improve decision-making, as well as run event series on topical issues. We also work with councillors and do thorough "peer challenge" reviews of planning departments. Explore the link below to discover more.
Planning advisory service
The role of PAS is to support councils to improve their planning services, provide examples of good practice and help introduce change. As part of this, PAS offers a range of chargeable support for local planning authorities that includes for example Planning Peer Challenges, Development Management Reviews and training for Officers and Councillors. Take a look at the PAS Chargeable Support link.

Social Housing Peer Challenge
Social Housing Peer Challenge (SHPC) is designed to support improvements in the landlord services provided by stock-holding councils. It is not a mock inspection, and no grading or score is given. It has been developed within the context of the regulatory environment applicable to local authority registered providers and in the spirit of the LGA’s sector led improvement approach.

In addition to chargeable services the LGA offers a range of grant-funded programmes that support councils in developing the skills and capacity to deliver innovative housing solutions. Please visit: Housing reimagined: Practical support from the LGA
