Digital support offer for councils webinar launch

The LGA Care and Health Improvement Team are pleased to announce a further programme of work to support councils to realise your ambitions for care technology and adopting digital tools and solutions in adult social care. The programme will build on the momentum of our work with the sector over recent years and aims to achieve the following impact for participating people and organisations:

  • Build confidence in the use of care technology and effective decision making for the scaling of technology solutions
  • Build resilience in councils and individuals to deliver this ambitious agenda
  • Develop leadership capacity and capabilities required to tackle the care tech agenda
  • Enable culture change across councils and the sector to ensure the “digital first” approach becomes systematised, understood and truly valued – including having an evidence-based approach to improvement
  • Accelerate knowledge of council staff, to be able to shape the market, procure and commission the best technologies for their local communities and create effective digital health and care partnerships through integrated care systems (ICSs)

The programme will include a range of connected interventions to work towards our vision of all councils sustainably adopting digital technology that transforms health and wellbeing for their residents.

The programme will be delivered by Rethink Partners and co-produced with the sector; it will run for six months from mid-October onwards and will include an exciting programme of masterclasses, tools and on-line resources, coaching, leadership development and communities of practice. There will be lots of opportunities and different ways for councils to get involved.

Strengthening Sector Capability – recruitment open now

We are looking for three councils to work closely with the Rethink Partners team from November 2021 to March 2022; councils will receive direct bespoke support from Rethink Partners on aspects of care technology; will co-produce tools and content to share with the sector; participate in a community of practice; all culminating in a masterclass to share learning and experiences. This is a unique opportunity to receive specialist support. We are looking for councils to work with us across the following digital / care technology themes:

  • Digital discharge, flow and crisis prevention, including discharge to assess
  • Commissioning, procurement and market shaping
  • Working with the care market
  • Digital access for all – prevention; information, advice and guidance; digital switchover; digital inclusion and digital bias
  • Digital benefits realisation, making the business case, outcomes and impact

Applications close at midday on Wednesday 20 October.

Digital Leadership Programme – recruitment open now

We would like to offer five councils the opportunity to participate in a digital leadership programme running from November 2021 to March 2022. We have seen the importance of having both an engaged and committed senior leader and a dedicated care technology lead in those councils who are making the most rapid progress. This programme is therefore looking for councils who can commit people undertaking both of these roles to participate in the digital leadership programme.

The programme will be delivered virtually and will include participation in communities of practice, coaching, and other interventions over the period of the programme – responsive to participants needs and interests, and respectful of people’s time.

Applications close at midday on Wednesday 20 October.

Digital Platform – watch this space

To support programme delivery we will be launching a digital platform to capture and share content, tools and other resources in one place, and so that they can be accessed at a time and pace to suit individual circumstances. More information on this element will follow shortly.
