Dear Colleague,
Publication of the National Joint Council for local authority fire and rescue services scheme of conditions of service (grey book) seventh edition
1. We write to inform you that following several months of joint working, the NJC has now published the 7th edition of the NJC for LAFRS Scheme of Conditions of Service (the Grey Book)
2. This 7th edition is a technical update to the Grey Book which achieves the following aims:
- incorporates all relevant joint circulars issued since 2004
- updates and modernises some of the language used (for example removing gender pronouns)
- removes any inaccuracies, for example where legislation has changed.
3. A table of the joint circulars now incorporated into this edition can be found in the appendices to the grey book.
4. On-line versions will be available on the LGA and FBU websites. An accessible online version will also be available in due course.
5. This project has taken a huge amount of work and both sides are committed to reviewing and updating on a much more frequent basis going forward.
