  • The LGA welcomes the opportunity to comment on the new guidance for local authorities and schools on promoting the education of looked-after and previously looked-after children. This is a positive policy that should help to improve educational outcomes for some of our most vulnerable children and young people and help them to get the support they need to achieve their potential.

  • Our comments are intended to clarify responsibilities further, and to ensure that the guidance supports the overall wellbeing and development of looked-after and previously looked-after children to support their educational progress.
