Youth and community workers - Pay 2021
Thank you for your response to our formal rejection of your pay offer.
Whilst the Staff Side is pleased to receive the commitment of joint working regarding some of the non-pay elements of our claim, we remain extremely dismayed that you have felt unable to make an improved pay offer for 2021-22.
This is particularly disappointing given your recognition of the dedication and significant role that Youth and Community Workers undertake in delivering youth services in the statutory and voluntary sectors, and how this work and activity has been particularly important during the Covid pandemic.
As notified in my letter of the 15th November, Staff Side unions reject this pay offer of 1.75%, and Unite and Unison have now begun the process to formally ballot members for industrial action.
We remain keen to reach a fair, negotiated settlement if that can be achieved, and would urge the Employers Side to reconsider its position and to return to the negotiating table.
