I was working as a legal secretary for a small firm of solicitors when I saw a banner at my local fire station recruiting men and women. I needed a new and exciting challenge in my life so thought I would give it a go.
Being a firefighter is about working as part of a team to help people in need and to solve problems, but there are lots of other roles within the service which are equally rewarding. The fire service really looks after its staff and the there are lots of opportunities if you want to take them.
I love my job – being able to do something useful that helps people and makes them safer - what could be better?
