Circular NJC/2/26 – Pay award 2026

The NJC has agreed an increase of 3.8 per cent with effect from 1 July 2026. This circular contains the revised rates of pay from 1 July 2026.

Standard 1 - Strategic and professional leadership

This standard is about developing a strategic vision and ensuring professional leadership for the social work service. This vision and leadership should provide a strong framework, with a clear understanding about the principles that constitute good social work practice and how those principles function. This overarching framework should encompass all eight of the employer standards.

Nottingham City Council - Listening to and engaging with private landlords

Housing Advisers Programme case study: 2018/19 cohort

During consultation as part of the review for the revised Homelessness Strategy, the council were advised that private landlords did not feel that they were listened to and as loss of Assured Shorthold Tenancy (ASTs) was the second highest reason for homelessness, the council asked the LGA to engage with private landlords to identify what could be done to try and prevent/relieve homelessness in the future.

Working collaboratively with the council, we designed and executed an options appraisal to support Gloucester City Council to identify and evaluate the optimum delivery strategy.

Gloucester City Council are now pursuing a strategy to identify potential joint venture partners with whom they will seek to acquire a range of properties meeting differing needs, including temporary accommodation.
