In East Riding a mobile sexual health clinic has been established, allowing staff to take services direct to where people are. It forms part of a multi-pronged approach to reach out to local people, especially the young.

Commissioners from Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent and Telford and Wrekin councils worked together to jointly tender for sexual health and HIV services. The move has had a variety of advantages, allowing the three areas to benefit from economies of scale and better partnership working with each other and the provider for the benefit of the patients.

Councils across the South West have pooled budgets to carry out research into why certain groups are not coming forward for the HIV-preventative treatment PrEP. The findings of the exercise are now being used to run a social marketing campaign which will be tailored towards those groups and individuals who are least likely to come forward to access PrEP. PrEP is a pill which prevents infection with HIV by stopping the virus from replicating.

Mansfield Museum successfully obtained funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to undertake the Creative Women Together project. This holistic and therapeutic project gives women at risk a special creative experience they can be proud of.

Suffolk is embarking on a year-long project to improve the sexual and reproductive health support that women with learning disabilities receive. It will involve a series of workshops, which will then be turned into videos to improve the knowledge and experience of women from this community.

A bespoke social media campaign was developed in Newcastle to target ethnically-minoritised and trans/non-binary communities when the government launched its national cervical screening campaign early 2022.

Liverpool City Council has worked with the local NHS to set up a network of women’s health hubs in GP surgeries. The hubs offer both NHS and council-commissioned services from cervical screening to long-acting reversible contraception (LARC).

The London borough of Kingston has worked with local partners to set up the Kingston Women’s Hub to help women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. Alongside crisis support, it offers a holistic range of individual and community support to help women thrive.

A drop-in clinic has been established for street-based sex workers in Southend, providing them with access to mental health and sexual health workers and a nurse prescriber. It is part of a wider strategy that has been developed to provide better support to this community of women.

Bristol City Council set up a programme to tackle youth crime and exploitation in a partnership between the council, police, schools and voluntary sector which provides a range of support to vulnerable children.
