Resetting the relationship between local and national government. Read our Local Government White Paper
Since its inception in 2009, the LG Challenge has been creating the future leaders of local government, all whilst providing valuable consultancy to local councils.
Over the course of six months, contestants are tasked with tackling five real-life challenges and offer innovative solutions to complex problems that councils currently face across the country.
The aim is to bring a diverse set of contestants together to collaboratively tackle these issues, as they compete against each other for the winner’s title and the £10,000 Bruce-Lockhart Scholarship. This scholarship provides the winning contestant with a fantastic opportunity to translate their own ideas and passions for a local project into a reality.
Each year the winner of the programme is announced at the LGA’s Annual Conference.
Want to find out what the LG Challenge can do for you? Take a look at our tenth anniversary yearbook which recognises the achievements of the contestants who have taken part in the past 10 years and celebrates the positive impact that the LG Challenge has had on their careers.
