LG Challenge 2024 - The Final

The winner of the Local Government Challenge was announced at the Local Government Association’s (LGA) headquarters in 18 Smith Square on Wednesday 31 July 2024.

In July 2024, after completing and competing in five challenges across the country, the four LG Challenge finalists headed to London to pitch their project ideas to a judging panel (that included representatives from the LGA, Essex CC, Kent CC and The MJ) to try and win the Bruce-Lockhart Scholarship.

This year’s finalists and their scholarship proposals were:

 

At the Awards ceremony, it was announced that Faith Scott Deuchar won for her project. The £10,000 award was presented by Cllr Kevin Bentley, Leader of Essex CC and Senior Vice-Chairman of the LGA.

The LGA would like to thank the members and officers at the host councils who contributed to making the five challenges across the 2024 programme such a success.

Congratulations also to our 2024 cohort for their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment – our four finalists, plus Kerry Challoner (Lichfield District Council), Martin Chastney (Cheltenham Borough Council), Helen Gelder (North East Lincolnshire Council), Che-kwon Sterling (London Borough of Hounslow), Adam Towers (Wigan Council) and Ramisa Yazdani Biouki (London Borough of Barnet).
