LGA's e-learning platform for councillors

As part of our programme of supporting political leadership development we have developed a range of online learning modules.

Self-registration is now available on the e-learning platform. If you are trying to register and the platform displays a message to say you already have an account, please email elearning@local.gov.uk

Our new e-learning platform enables councillors to deepen their knowledge of local government and develop the essential leadership skills needed to work more effectively with their communities.

Through the platform, users can create a bespoke learning programme, choosing the modules most relevant to their individual needs and interests, and allowing them to fit their learning around work or other commitments.

We encourage this online learning to be combined with our workbooks and webinars, where knowledge and experience can be shared with other councillors.

Modules include

  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Holding council meetings online
  • Facilitation and conflict resolution
  • Effective ward councillor
  • Scrutiny
  • Influencing skills
  • Local government finance
  • Supporting mentally healthier communities

How to register

I was registered on the LGA's previous platform

Councillors who were registered on our previous e-learning platform, have been carried over as users to the new system. You should have received an email from the LGA with details of your new username (your council email) and instructions on how to reset your password.

If you haven't received an email, please contact elearning@local.gov.uk.

Please note your current registration lasts until 30 April 2021. If you don’t log in by that date the registration will lapse and you will need to reregister.

I am a new user

A system of self-registration is now in place for any councillor wishing to register on the site. This is designed to make it easier for new councillors to register directly.

Your will receive your user name and password once your registration is complete.

Anyone wishing to register will need a council.gov.uk email address

Please note that you will have access to the e-learning modules 24 hours following your registration as this is the time required to configure the modules for new registrations.
