HICM: Intermediate Care: West Sussex

Colleagues in West Sussex were experiencing high demand for long-term adult social care services, needs becoming more complex, and continued financial pressures. The Community Reablement Service was recommissioned, with approximately £0.72m additional investment.

Case Study

Planning

When considering the future development options for a surplus site, estate owners are encouraged to engage early with their local planning authority (LPA). This should link in to, and align with, existing dialogue with the LPA at a sustainability and transformation partnership (STP) level.

Legal implementation

Ensuring that Homes for NHS Staff is an explicit core objective from the outset greatly increases the likelihood of successful delivery of the Homes for NHS Staff policy.

Practical implementation

Disposing of land in a way that best ensures the creation of Homes for NHS Staff will require the creation of a skilled, multidisciplinary team of consultants and/or professional advisors. No matter the discipline, there are some key points to bear in mind when making appointments.

Research

OPE is supporting MHCLG and Homes England in promoting and sharing good practice around off-site housing and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).

Brownfield Land Release Fund

The Brownfield Land Release Fund (BLRF) is a cross-government initiative between the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and One Public Estate (OPE) which is delivered in partnership by the Local Government Association and the Cabinet Office.

Why is council housing important?
