JNC coroners management side circular to local authorities - pay and next steps

In our last circular issued on 12 June we gave a further update on the coroner’s pay bargaining situation. Since then, the Ministry of Justice has shared with us correspondence between the CSEW and the Lord Chancellor, David Lammy MP. With their permission we share that correspondence with you as an appendix to this circular.

Understanding demand

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced in October 2017 that NHS staff would be offered first refusal on affordable homes built on surplus land disposed of by NHS estate owners, with an ambition to benefit up to 3,000 staff.

Project feasibility

When a site has been identified as surplus and estate owners have considered their objectives, including whether Homes for NHS Staff should be provided, it may be appropriate to commission an options appraisal.

Planning

When considering the future development options for a surplus site, estate owners are encouraged to engage early with their local planning authority (LPA). This should link in to, and align with, existing dialogue with the LPA at a sustainability and transformation partnership (STP) level.

Research

Brownfield Land Release Fund

The Brownfield Land Release Fund (BLRF) is a cross-government initiative between the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and One Public Estate (OPE) which is delivered in partnership by the Local Government Association and the Cabinet Office.
