Liverpool City Council has significantly invested in multi-agency risk assessment conferences (MARACs) to deal with the highest risk cases of violence against women and girls (VAWG). MARACs share information and discuss risk management for these cases and are attended by housing, health, adult and children's services, police, probation and others as appropriate.
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted bacterial infection which affects around two to three per cent of sexually active young adults. Rates are higher in young people from deprived neighbourhoods.
Councillor Gingell, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Services, raised the issue of FGM at a full council meeting in December 2013. A Full Council Motion (Appendix A) was introduced to condemn the practice, which was unanimously supported.
