Following a proposal from the executive group of the National Network of Chairs of Safeguarding Adults Boards the Care & Health Improvement Programme (CHIP) is inviting councils to participate in a voluntary data collection exercise to help the sector promptly understand the nature of the impact of COVID-19 and the lockdown on safeguarding activity, and how it compares to the previous year.
This will involve providing monthly figures on a small number of categories derived from the Safeguarding Adults Collection (SAC). The briefing document below provides context and guidance for this project.
To date 92 councils have participated in the project – over 60 per cent of social care authorities in England – providing data from January 2019 to June 2020. We are now welcoming data up to December 2020, the deadline for which is Friday 12 February 2021, and further reports from this will be circulated in February 2021. Revisions to any previous months provided will still be welcomed, and late and partial returns will be accepted. To take part, simply download the data return below, complete it (either every month as the data becomes available or in one go in January, whichever works better for you) and send it to us at CHIP@local.gov.uk. Many thanks in advance for your continued participation in this project
