Information for councils and councillors
All councils have previously received guidance from the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on plans to mark the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The Government guidance supplemented guidance for councils from the National Association of Civic Officers’ (NACO).
In recent days, DLUHC has produced a number of supplementary guidance notes on specific issues and is engaged in regular communication with councils. NACO are also providing regular updates to their members.
The LGA has provided a short briefing for councillors summarising the steps that councils will be undertaking during the national period of mourning. This note is being updated as plans develop to reflect latest government guidance and announcements.
