The Retention Reset programme is a 10-week programme designed to improve retention practices and tackle common challenges across local authorities. The aim is to improve employment experiences amongst local government staff, with the view of retaining talent and skills.
Cohort 1
- Starts: Tuesday 1 April
- Deadline for applications: Wednesday 19 March
Programme objectives
The Retention Reset programme is designed to help councils evaluate and enhance their employment offer to align with employee needs, expectations, and best practices. The programme gives participants the opportunity to focus on resetting the council’s strategy and priorities, while reshaping the employment experience through modern practice. The LGA has developed the programme in response to the workforce survey and the wider challenges councils are facing in relation to retaining staff.
Programme overview
This 10-week online programme is designed to guide participants through five essential steps to reset and enhance their employment offer, using the LGA Retention Maturity Model as a standard. The Retention Reset programme is structured around six key workplace experiences, providing a comprehensive framework to evaluate and enhance the employment journey.
Each cohort is limited to 12 places and participants will be encouraged to reflect on their current practices, make improvements, and apply their learning to address their most pressing employee experience challenges. The programme offers a full set of quality materials and resources, and includes one online session per week, thoughtfully designed to accommodate diverse learning styles. The schedule ensures that participants have ample time to complete the steps while maintaining momentum throughout the course.
Online sessions take place every Tuesday from 9.30 – 12.30 throughout the programme, and we ask you to ensure you can attend each session.
Who is the programme for?
The retention reset programme is designed specifically for leaders looking to review their retention practices at both a strategic and operational level.
