Councils have a crucial role to play in achieving the UK’s 2050 Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions target. We have produced this workbook to support councillors to strive for net zero locally.
The severity of the pandemic and the resultant upheaval and change in our daily lives since then has been staggering. Yet, while it may feel like everything has changed, some things have not.
This guide has been produced by the LGA and NHS Clinical Commissioners (NHSCC) to provide key prompts and actions for local leaders to promote strong localised decision making across health and local government.
At the heart of this research was a recognition that the way we talk about homelessness prevention needs to change, recognising the vital importance of upstream cross-service prevention work in local homelessness systems, and the role of councils, their partners and central government policy in delivering this work.
The asset-based approach sees citizens and communities as co-producers of health and wellbeing. It promotes community networks, relationships and friendships as a way of providing mutual help and support and empowers communities to control their futures and create tangible resources for themselves.
The handful of case studies featured in this councillors’ handbook demonstrate the excellent work of ACE services, but there are hundreds more great examples out there.
As we look ahead towards the future, we now stand ready to play an equal part with Government to support an inclusive economic recovery – helping young people to ensure that the next generation doesn’t become a lost ‘pandemic generation’ with scars for years to come.
