Local councils across England provide valued collection services to businesses either directly or indirectly through support and advice. In this report we will review the legislative context and potential for businesses to reduce their environmental impact.
At a time when councils face difficult choices about services in the light of reducing budgets, the LGA’s Waste and Recycling Programme supported several projects involving councils across England to run projects to help councils make productivity savings in delivering waste services.
The survey was conducted by the LGA's Research and Information team in September 2016 to gather information about how local authorities were dealing with the collection and disposal of clinical waste.
The LGA commissioned Populus to conduct a poll of consumers to understand their views and motivations for reusing items and buying second hand products.
What we do with our waste has been an environmental issue for generations and a regular front-page news story for the last few years. With the economy struggling and public services facing drastic funding cuts, we need to recognise that waste and recycling are economic issues.
