Licensing training standard
Councillors have a crucial role to play in the licensing process with licensing committee members responsible for making decisions which can affect people’s livelihoods, public safety and the look and feel of our local area. It is therefore vital that those undertaking the role are well trained. In order to support councils and councillors and drive consistently high standards in licensing, the LGA and Institute of Licensing (IoL) have created a training standard which sets out a foundational level of licensing committee member training.
