Amplify  

AMPlify provides a significant development opportunity for groups of staff who are currently under-represented within senior leadership levels. It is designed for staff from ethnically diverse backgrounds who have the ambition and potential to become future leaders within local government.

Exit questionnaires are an important tool when reviewing your recruitment and retention strategy, and a means of gaining feedback from colleagues who are leaving the organisation. 


This is a unique development programme designed for future managerial leaders of local government. This is suitable for enthusiastic individuals at middle manager or head of service level, who are the rising stars of the public sector and seeking to move into more senior roles.

National Recruitment Campaign 

The ‘Make a Difference, Work for Your Local Council’ campaign aims to enhance the good work councils are doing to attract talent by encouraging individuals to explore career opportunities in local government that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of residents. To support in the recruitment and retention of staff, it is important to create organisational structures that supports to achieve this. The LGA workforce team are qualified to deliver organisational design reviews using the DMA methodology

Boosting Middle Leaders is a leadership programme which brings together councillors and officers to build relationships, share perspectives, and develop practices that will help them to deliver the best outcomes for their places and communities. 


LG Challenge  

The LG Challenge serves to develop a new generation of local government leaders. Over a six-month period, ten contestants tackle five real-life challenges in councils across the country with opportunity to be awarded the prestigious £10,000 Bruce-Lockhart scholarship. Local government officers of all levels, grades and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
