LGA General Assembly

The LGA’s General Assembly, the 'parliament of Local Government', meets once a year, and is the only LGA decision making forum which all authorities in full membership are eligible to attend and to vote.


LGA General Assembly

The next meeting of the LGA's General Assembly will be held at 11.45 am on Tuesday 4 July 2023 at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC). The Annual meeting takes place as part of the LGA's Annual Conference which will begin directly following the meeting.

Agenda

The agenda for the meeting will be available two weeks before the meeting. Previous agenda papers and minutes of previous meetings of the General Assembly are available to view.

Nominations and voting

All Member Authorities will be invited in March to appoint their representatives to the General Assembly for 2023/24. The deadline for receipt of your nomination form is 7 June 2023.

Appointments will take effect from the Annual Meeting on 4 July 2023 and shall end immediately before the Annual Meeting the following year.

Submitting motions

The General Assembly is Member Authorities' opportunity to consider strategic policy of national significance to local government by submitting a Motion for debate by the Assembly. All authorities in membership will also be invited to submit Motions for consideration before the deadline of 3 May 2023. Please note that not all Motions received are submitted to General Assembly.
