The LGA delivers a range of events over the party conference season, including debates and receptions on behalf of councils and our partners.
Since being elected as Chair of the Local Government Association this summer – a national cross-party role – it is my mission to champion local authorities of all shapes, sizes, and colours and to represent our hardworking, and absolutely vital sector. The autumn party conference season presents us with a fantastic opportunity to do this.

It’s My Life: mental health and relationships – Brook with COYL
The LGA Independent Group ‘weekender’ will take place at the LGA’s Smith Square offices in London, Friday 20 – Saturday 21 October.
It is an ‘away day’ for Executive Group members, peers and Independent members on LGA Boards to network, share and discuss ideas as well as engage in group policy making ahead of the next General Election and beyond.
The LGA’s Independent Group Conference will take place over two days this year, Friday 24 – Saturday 25 November, at the LGA’s Smith Square offices in London. Cllr Marianne Overton MBE will lead. This is free to attend and open to all independent councillors and councillors from small political parties.
