Promoting independence and resilience

Lancashire County Council used customer profiling tools to identify customers who would benefit from low-level interventions to raise their independence and resilience. This would reduce the likelihood of these residents needing urgent or long-term interventions later. This case study forms part of our demand management, adult social care, resource.

The Partnership achieved this by using the list of residents registered for Assisted Bin Collections as an indicator of customers who were likely to have other related needs. This was cross-referenced against social demographic profiling to identify customers who may need Assisted Bin Collections, but were unaware of the service. During the course of the project 288 Home Fire Safety checks were carried out, avoiding potential domestic fires and the need for hospitalisation and rehousing.
