The QR code uses a smartphone GPS to send location data to the council's system that manages its street operatives.

The software uses an interactive map that recognises a location and automatically sends a report to the council. It is integrated with the back-office system and allocates the work to specific teams. The ‘Spot the Grot' campaign has seen a 51 per cent reduction in face-to-face interactions and a 42 per cent decrease in customer demand over the past three years.
