United Pride Friends is a group service for members of the LGBTQ+ community with Autism and Learning difficulties. The primary purpose of their group is giving members a safe place to meet new people and make friends. Funded through Oxfordshire County Council via direct payments, this bespoke, family-run provision is for a young man who was neglected, restrained, over medicated, and abused as an inpatient in various assessment and treatment units (ATUs). Birmingham’s sexual health service works in partnership with the city’s leading LGBT charity to provide tailored support to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans community. There has been a dedicated sexual health clinic in place since 2015 and more recently the service has partnered with the substance misuse team to launch a Chemsex support service.
