We support Amendment 23 tabled by Dr Roberta Blackman-Woods MP,Teresa Pearce MP and Jim McMahon MP. This would remove from the Bill all the provisions relating to restrictions of the use of planning conditions by local planning authorities

Local authorities have the ultimate responsibility to support, safeguard, care for and house vulnerable members of their community.

Faced with increasing demand, reducing budgets, falling social housing and wide-ranging welfare reforms, it is clear that councils cannot tackle this challenge alone.

We are calling for Government to work collaboratively with councils throughout any transfer of ownership to a private company.

On Thursday 12 May, the Housing and Planning Act received Royal Assent.

This response has been agreed by the LGA's Environment, Economy, Housing and Transport (EEHT) Board.
