LGA political proportionality confirmed

Following the local elections held on Thursday 2 May 2024, the LGA’s political proportionality has now been calculated and independently verified. The results are as follows:Labour - 38.8% Conservative - 31.4% Liberal Democrat - 15.5% Independent/Green Party/Other - 14.3% Total - 100% Labour remains the largest group at the LGA. This means that Labour will retain the chair of the LGA and will be nominating Cllr Shaun Davies to remain as LGA Chair.  ENDS

LGA starts discussions on assurance framework for local government

The LGA has begun to work with the sector, professional associations, and other groups to map the different elements which currently provide assurance of the performance of local government, in the interests of clarity and transparency and to help understanding of how they all fit together.
