Faced with the challenge of rising mental health absence rates, East Sussex County Council (ESCC) wanted to understand how to pro-actively support the wellbeing of its workforce.

Camden Council have been working with Timewise since 2014 and became their first Timewise Accredited Council.

Claire Campbell, Timewise’s public sector Programme Director, explains why Westminster City Council got involved in the programme, and the difference it’s already making.

Following a change in organisational structure and political leadership, the council commissioned a corporate peer challenge from the LGA which was completed in November 2015.

Men tend to have poorer health than women. In Leeds the public health team has sought to tackle this by getting a better understanding of men’s needs.

Key among this has been the adoption of a Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach by the public health directorate, which aims to maximise how health and wellbeing interventions and outcomes are integrated across the council.
