Case studies

The project aim was to help the council build an effective, sustainable counter fraud capability. This was achieved through fraud awareness to promote an anti-fraud culture and investigating and pursuing those found to be committing fraudulent behaviour.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich has a rich heritage, with a unique place in maritime history and a global profile through the Greenwich meridian. 2018 was a record year for visitor numbers, when the borough received 19 million visits made up of a mix of London, UK and international visitors.

Merton is part of South West London Health and Care Partnership, which has a commitment to delegate to borough level to ensure local accountability and delivery based on consistency, not uniformity. The partnership published draft health and care plans in March 2019.

Rotherham is part of South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, a first-wave integrated care system (ICS). The places within the ICS are developing as integrated care partnerships (ICPs), and a key message from the ICS is that ‘place’ is put first.

Buckinghamshire is a first-wave integrated care system (ICS) within Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Sustainability and Transformation Partnership. This case study forms part of our integrated care system (ICS) resource.

Cambridgeshire County Council, Peterborough City Council and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are coterminous with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP), which is developing into an integrated care system (ICS).

Gloucestershire County Council, Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS providers are coterminous with One Gloucestershire Integrated Care System (ICS), a second-wave ICS which covers around 635,000 people. Cranbrook, is a green field development new town within East Devon to the north east of Exeter. With a current  population of about 4,500 expected to rise to over 18,000 by 2030. 

In October 2018, South Tyneside Council participated in the Productivity Expert Programme to review their directly provided childcare service. This report outlines the project and considers the conclusions of the final report and identifies the way forward. This case study forms part of our productivity experts resource.

A project which commenced over three years ago with initial support from the LGA’s Productivity Experts Programme and phase one will launch in June 2019.
