Liverpool invests to save in preventing domestic violence

Liverpool City Council has significantly invested in multi-agency risk assessment conferences (MARACs) to deal with the highest risk cases of violence against women and girls (VAWG). MARACs share information and discuss risk management for these cases and are attended by housing, health, adult and children's services, police, probation and others as appropriate.

Securing a safe haven

Securing somewhere safe to live is one of the main issues that enable victims of domestic violence to turn their lives around. The IDeA examines how councils are working with partners to provide a range of housing and related services to help vulnerable women rebuild their lives.

Mendip District Council

Finding it all at the YMCA Mendip District Council's family mediation service is provided in partnership with the YMCA. It is funded through the council's housing budget and helps young people at risk of homelessness return to the family home.

Pathfinder projects

In April 2005, a number of local authorities in England embarked on a two-year pilot programme, jointly initiated by the Local Government Association (LGA) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). The aim was to highlight innovation, learning and transferability in using culture to support partnership working in the shared priority areas.
