Pension Fundamentals is our three-day training course aimed at councillors and others who attend pension committees and local pension boards. Past delegates have also included representatives of trade unions and employers, and officers who support committees and boards.
This training course provides an overview of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and covers current issues relating to the administration, investments and governance of the scheme. All sessions are delivered by experts in their field.
Attending all three days of the training course will support delegates to gain the knowledge and skills either required in statute or encouraged in relevant guidance.
Early booking is recommended as places are limited.
Course dates and locations
The course consists of one day of training each month for three months and participants can choose to attend any combination of the following options to complete Days 1, 2 and 3 of the training course:
Manchester
Our Manchester training course will be at Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, London Road, Manchester M1 2PG on:
- Thursday 5 October 2023 (Day 1)
- Wednesday 8 November 2023 (Day 2)
- Wednesday 13 December 2023 (Day 3).
London
Our London in-person training course will be at 18 Smith Square, London SW1P 3HZ on:
Virtual
Each 'day' of our virtual training course will be split over two half days. These will be held on Zoom on:
- Thursday 19 October 2023 and Thursday 26 October 2023 (Day 1)
- Thursday 16 November 2023 and Thursday 23 November 2023 (Day 2)
- and Monday 11 December 2023 and Tuesday 19 December 2023 (Day 3).
Cost
In person – £280 plus VAT per day (inclusive of lunch and refreshments).
Online – £240 plus VAT per day.
