This workbook has been designed as a distance learning aid to support councillors develop mentally healthier communities.

Many councils are currently receiving calls for changes to the names of estates and streets and the removal of statues – and objections to such proposals. Building cohesive communities lies at the core of councils’ day-to-day business and as leaders of place, shaping and supporting a local identity and helping to develop relationships and engagement between different parts of the local community are key to achieving this.

This guide will help local authorities to consider how to manage the wellbeing of their employees who have been furloughed under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

This report outlines the results of a Local Government Association (LGA) public poll on resident satisfaction with councils’ response to COVID-19. It follows a similar format to the LGA’s regular resident satisfaction polling, which has been conducted every three to four months since 2012.

The LGA has developed this simple tool to support Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB) chairs/chairmen move into the next stage of COVID-19. Please adapt it to your local circumstances over the forthcoming period.

To support authorities in considering this, this note signposts councils to relevant general guidance, as well sharing approaches taken by authorities which have taken a position on the use of screens. 

This note provides a brief overview of councils’ regulatory responsibilities where there is a relevant sports ground in their area, to assist senior officers and members in seeking assurance on this issue. More detailed guidance for operational leads has been developed by the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA).

An online survey is emailed to heads of human resources, or a nominated contact, in councils from England, Wales and Northern Ireland on alternate Wednesdays. The data requested relates to the week ending the preceding Friday.
